GUEST LECTURE on MOBILE JOURNALISM by NDTV’s UMAKANT SINGH

Gurugram: “Mobile journalism is the real time journalism. It will be used more and more for the coverage by media houses and video cameras will be replaced by mobile phones in future,’’ Said senior journalist of NDTV Mr Uma Shankar Singh who is one of the very few journalists in the country spearheading the mobile news gathering technique. He was speaking at a guest lecture organised by Faculty of Mass Communication and Media Technology (SGT University) on 23rd March.

While addressing media students he said, “Nowadays media houses focus on cost costing so mobile journalism is very relevant where the same person is reporter and camera person and there is no need of costly video cameras.”

By showing his coverage on the flood in Darbhanga (Bihar), Mr Singh explained each and every aspect of mobile journalism. He also advised students to be careful while covering dangerous situation like encounter by mobile because self defence is important in such cases.  He gave tips on how to stop fake news in media. At the end of the lecture, question-answer session was organised. Students raised queries related to mobile journalism and senior journalist Mr Singh solved all the queries.
