A medium with maximum reach, very much affordable and invisible – 13th February, World Radio Day seeks to celebrate the importance of the radio. The Faculty of Mass Communication and Media Technology celebrated World Radio Day and invited stalwart personalities like Mr. Lakshmendra Chopra, Former ADG, All India Radio, Mr. Rehan Fazal, senior broadcast journalist, BBC, and Dr. Vartika Nanda, Head, Department of Journalism, Lady Shriram College, Delhi. Mr. Rehan Fazal enlightened students with historical and contemporary examples and reemphasized the fact that though being a blind medium it helps open mental horizon. The radio documentary helped students see one of the many facets of the medium. Dr. Vartika Nanda focused on the right usage of the medium for the growth of the tool and how students can contribute to this medium. she also brought out the fact that a medium and Media’s work is to establish a right framework for the betterment of the society. Mr. Lakshmendra Chora very logically eradicated one of the myth or rather the shortcoming of the medium that this medium does not have visuals, rather he presented a flip side of it and through his examples and experience he converted this myth into the strength of the medium. The participation by students was the desirous and positive outcome of the session and they satiated their queries. Apart from students of all classes, the faculty members were also present at this guest lecture.
