There was a near unanimity on the need for regulating commercial surrogacy in India at a Panel discussion “Surrogacy: Social, Legal and Medical issues” held at the SGT University Gurgaon, 0n 20thAugust, 2016.
The panel consisting of Heads and deans of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Law, Behavioural Sciences and Nursing of the SGT University was moderated by the well known Doordarshan News Anchor Ashok Srivastava. Noted social worker Ms. Sneha Banerjee from SAMA enriched the discussion.
The Participants however, pointed out the need for a comprehensive discussion on the various aspects of the Surrogacy (Regulation) Bill 2016.The debate organized by the Faculty of Mass Communication & Media Technology as part of Faculty Development Program.
