Media Studies: A good choice after 12th

When you pass class 12th, you face a problem regarding admission as a student. At this point, you have a big question related to your career option. 

No doubt you have many options, you can choose engineering, medical, paramedical, defence services, and many more, but it is challenging to decide which option is the best. There are many people around you to advise in this regard. Here is also some advice for you in this regard.

The big question is, what course you can opt-in for media studies after the 12th? The answer is simple: You can do graduation in media, which takes three years. 

This course is available with different names like BJMC (Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication), BA (JMC) (Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication), BJ (Bachelor of Journalism), etc. These are UGC-approved courses. 

Journalism and Mass Communication courses are considered professional courses, and practical activities are the main attraction of this course. After admission to this course, you have to focus on practical work, which is the soul of this course. If you give your 100 per cent during this course, it will provide you with a good return on investments in future. 

Selection of college/university 

There are many educational organisations in Delhi-NCR and India offering media studies. However, Before taking admission, you have to consider two things- 

  • Is the college or the university approved by UGC (University Grants Commission)?
  • Has that college or university offer practical training?

These two points are essential information in selecting a college/university for choosing a course in media studies. You may find many colleges or universities in Delhi-NCR which provide this course.
