Guest Lecture on “The Art of News Editing”

The Faculty of Mass Communication and Media Technology, SGT University, organised a guest lecture on “The Art of News Editing”. Mr Gulshan Kumar, Senior News Editor, Central Desk Dainik Jagran Noida, was the Keynote speaker.

During his lecture, Mr Kumar emphasised that a journalist must be aware of problems and issues related to the masses and must behave like an architect who constructs a valid and unbiased argument by following 5W and 1H for the wellbeing of society. He further pointed out that young journalists must become familiar with general knowledge, which eventually helps them develop better reports with in-depth knowledge. After writing a piece of news, the journalist must read their copy and find a scope to improve it further. They must be objective while doing so. This is possible only when a journalism student has a reservoir of words and a smooth sentence structure flow.

Professor Sushil Manav, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication and Media Technology, said that writing a story is also an art and a perfect story is clear and precise. All the faculty members and students were enriched by this lecture, and Mr S K Pandey, Associate Professor, FMMT, proposed the vote of thanks.
