A two-day workshop on Sound Design
Gurugram, May 16-17, 2022
How would you feel when you record your voice for the first time with a stalwart? The joy of exploring the sound territory and meeting synchronous and asynchronous sounds for the first time and many other related glossary terms, when you hold boom rod for the first time or handling all the professional sound equipment and then editing it on professional software.
It was all part of a two-day workshop on sound design organised by the Faculty of Mass Communication and Media Technology, SGT University. The freelance music composer and sound engineer Mr. Sudeep Chakravarthy introduced the mass communication students to the world of sound, where he perfectly blended the worlds of aesthetics and technology. It was a two-day practical roller-coaster ride from a single system to double system recording, from basics to four pillars of sound, from appropriate examples to situation-specific recordings, and hands-on training on different professional sound equipment. From editing dialogues to voiceover, from soliloquies to songs, all were done by students.
All the four sessions were followed by students’ quarries which were answered aptly. Professor Sushil Manav, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication and Media Technology, introduced the guest and Mr S K Pandey, Associate Professor, FMMT, proposed the vote of thanks.
